The crystal pure water of our famous Wakefield Spring is possibly in jeopardy as a result of the complex extension to Highway 5. The proposed highway will be built on top of the Valle Verde/Brown's Lake aquifer which appears to be the source of the Spring. This is Wakefield’s only source of potable water, and used extensively by many surrounding populations beyond our community.
We respectfully request that a comprehensive environmental, economic and social assessment of the Valle Verde/Brown's Lake aquifer and its link to the Wakefield Spring be completed immediately prior to any work being undertaken on the highway extension. This should be done in a completely transparent manner with public input.

my family has been drinking this water for years. dont ruin our only clean source for a road we dont even need.
PLEASE PROTECT THE SPRING. this is so important for all of us in wakefield.
why would they even consider building over the aquifer. just seems like a bad idea all around
We come from the city just to fill up our jugs here. It is the best water around and it scares me that they want to pave over it.
