the best work i have done on stage has been in los angeles, doing 99 seat theater because it was through that system that the experimental works of Theatre Movement Bazaar was able to create it's original works via it's specific style. Other trade unions allow union members to accept any work they wish as long as they pay their dues. Why can't AEA emulate THOSE unions? Why make artists cut off their collective noses to spite their artistic face??

When you create a plan that devastates the theatrical community as a whole it harms actors as well.

I'm a member of WGA who also writes for theatre and this move would effectively destroy so many small producing companies and theaters

I am an Equity member and am AGAINST THIS CHANGE. The 99-Seat Waiver Agreement has been a God-send to LA actors. It has allowed me to attain artistic fulfillment onstage while pursuing work in film and television. We do it because we love it and do not care about the money. If the union persists in taking this privilege away from its actors it will have turned its back on the fervent desires of the majority of it's members who have been active in the 99-Seat Equity waiver community.

I have been an AEA member for years. Being able to do 99-seat waiver gave me an artistic home and a creative venue to practice and expand my craft. Please don't take this away.

AEA member since 1997. I think tiny budgets should be okay for tiny stipends. Big budgets should pay SPT wages. Keep no money fun theatre alive. Expand waivers or showcase codes nationwide. Give actors and stage managers their artistic freedom back! It won't weaken bigger contracts!

I have been absolutely blessed by 99 Seat Theatre. Do not take it away from us. Let me decide where I put my time and energy.
equity actors should be treated well. In fact all actors should be treated well. So should all directors and designers and crews and staff of small theaters. Those of us who choose to do small theater for free should be allowed to make that choice for ourselves.

I am equity. I am against this plan. Not out if fear of producers. But out if fear of the survival of this great and inspiring city of new work that we exist in. The passing of this new lab that elongates the 99 seat waiver will destroy the creation of some of the best theatre in the country. I am in solidarity with those signing this petition.
