Dear GOsC,

The osteopathic profession is facing a period of unprecedented uncertainty. The Coronavirus pandemic is affecting all osteopaths. Many colleagues have needed to close their clinics for the foreseeable future, while others are experiencing a large reduction in patient numbers as we follow government advice. We are all experiencing loss of income.

It would be a huge help to your registrants if you were to suspend registration fees for the next 3 months. After this interim period the situation may be clearer and the ongoing implications of Coronavirus for the practice of osteopathy around the UK may be better understood.

Thank you

Luc Woods

I just refreshed the page and seen that we hit 1,000 signatures which is honestly kind of surreal especially since I was just worried about how everyone was going to pay their bills this month. It is wild to think about how many osteopaths are going through the same thing right now but seeing these numbers climb is making me feel like maybe someone at the GOsC might actually listen to us for once.

I honestly did not think this would gain this much steam when I first typed it out in a panicked frenzy, but the way everyone is piling in really shows how much we all need a break right now. It is wild to see so many names attached to this cause and I hope the board is paying attention because the silence from them is starting to get pretty loud.

I just looked at the count and we are almost at one hundred signatures which is honestly wild because I really did not think this would gain so much speed so quickly. If everyone who signed could just message a few colleagues or pull up their group chats to send the link around we might actually hit the milestone by tonight and finally get the attention this deserves.

As many of us will be on Direct Debits which are for ten months and have now been paid for 2019/20, could you make this easing of fees apply to the beginning of the new DD year as we try to rebuild our practices after this is over. Thanks, Paul.

Action to help the osteopathic population is essential. Have just been given a 3 month grace period from RAMP (the fee is only £65) GOsC needs to do the same! I paid my fee for the year in December - a refund would be helpful at this stage, please.

We have just closed our practice got the foreseeable future. This means there will be no income coming in. The GOsC fees need to be waived or at least delayed in order for there not to be a huge swathe of osteopaths going out of business. GOsC please do the right thing.

Fees need to be suspended during the Pandemic, all patients have cancelled on the advise of the PM to stop all non essential contact. I have absolutely no income, I am self employed, single parent and supporting my child single handedly.

In these uncertain times the GOsC should try to limit the hardship osteopaths are going to face. When they produced their balance sheet a few years ago there was a large amount of cash in reserve. This is a good time to use it!

I have a 1 and 3 year old. I only work weekends as a result. Now my partner is on sick pay, off work last 2 month's due to a disc bulge in neck and back. I have no idea how I'm going to cope. And how long this virus is going to be around for.

Instead of 3 mths suspension the fee should be halved. Many has had NO income.

Fees should be waived as many of us have had loss of business through all the cleaning, between patients taking up valuable treatment time. Also the massive increase in cost to us for buying PPE.
