This is not right. If George brown knows it’s a covid hot spot, how is it safe to make students come back to SEW? Find another solution for students other than making them pay an extra semester.

Let the students graduate. They have all been through enough within the past year without having to worry about risking their Heath which they had to pay extra for! They have all worked hard so give them this satisfaction to make up for all the stress they have had to encounter throughout the last year!!

I agree that this one week class shouldn’t be the deciding factor whether us students get to graduate from this program or not. I think it is completely irresponsible and ridiculous of the school to think it’s okay to let all of these students return to the school for a one week sewing class, putting them and their families at risk to covid exposure, just to finish and get our diplomas. ONE WEEK. Not to mention that we have to pay an extra $200+ for this one week course when it should be included with the initial cost of the program. We cant control covid and what happened, so why do we have to pay extra and take and extra week of class when nobody else in this program prior had too? I think it’s unfair of George brown to do this to their students. It’s a clear money grab and abuse of the system. I feel taken advantage of and completely disregarded. This school claims they want to kept their students safe, so how is this safe ? Can you guarantee I, a person who has asthma, doesn’t get covid ? Can you guarantee someone won’t give me covid ? Can you guarantee that my high risk family is safe ? Nope you can’t, because I get emails all the time about positive cases at the campuses so what are you doing about it? Nothing, your still sending people to school. Also how do they expect us to take what we have learned from last September - December and apply that to this course in April, for one week?
I loved my time here at George brown but this has tainted my whole two year experience here. Everyone who I tell about this situation I am in with the school too thinks what the school is doing is ridiculous, not fair, unsafe, and just straight up negligence. Please, wave this one week sewing class that we don’t even necessarily need because we are NOT in the design program we are in the BUSINESS program. Please let me graduate so I can move on with my life and career in the fashion industry.

I couldn’t agree more with this petition. I am not only high risk due to asthma but my stepdad and grandfather have heart disease and asthma and his heart works at 20% this would kill him if he was to get it. Not only is my family high risk but I am from Nova Scotia, therefore I would have to travel, be on flights and miss a month of work to isolate when I am back. To have school for 5 days is absolutely ridiculous and extremely irresponsible for George Brown to expect of us. If it takes 5 days to decide whether or not we graduate is a little questionable upon our Faculty.

I am an international student from Fashion Business Industry program (F112) too. I am out of Canada now. I am agree with this petition because it is a hard work for international student to go back to Canada now. And it is just for only one week study. As an international student, accommodation is one of the main problem for us because we don't have place to stay in Canada. So we have to book a hotel to stay for at least 3 weeks(2 weeks quarantine+one week go to school) and it is a white elephant for us to pay that much money to stay in a hotel for such a long time.
