When you are recovering from illness, the last thing you need is the stress of loosing your home. But this is exactly what happened to John, Beth and their dog in October last year.

Beth has cancer and required frequent visits to the hospital for checkups and medication whilst John has had two heart attacks in the last 6 months. This has left them unable to spend time on the upkeep of their boat.

John and Beth have been moored on a 'towpath mooring' in middlesex for the last 20 years of their life, and have been shining examples of what makes good citizens, regularly taking part in litter picking up and down the towpath. But due to their ill health they are now unable to do this.

In October 2013 the poor couple were issued with a ruthless letter which stated that the area they moor their boat in is a 'popular area for tourists' and that they therefore need to maintain their boat to a good standard to prevent the canal from looking messy. Despite frequent pleas and phone calls from the couple (who explained their situation) the couple were issued with a letter in February 2014 which stated that if the upkeep of the boat was not improved within 28 days the trust will be forced to take action resulting in the removal of the boat from that area of the canal. This will leave the couple with nowhere to live and they fear having to have their pet dog put down so they can move into sheltered accommodation which does not allow pets.

Following receiving the letter John has had another heart attack and is trying to recover. Please sign this petition to prevent cases like this.

If you are about to sign this petition I suggest in future you don't take them at face value. Look around on the internet for the other side to the story. Petitions are usually taken out of context, blown out of proportion and leave out important parts of the jigsaw. It takes 5 minutes to create a petition. None of the information in this petition is true - if you were thinking of signing this then hopefully next time you read a similar story, you won't side with the 'victim' quite to quickly and will spare a thought for the organisation being slandered.
