We believe all 16 year olds should have the right to vote. We believe the minimum age for voting in all elections and referendums in Scotland should be lowered to 16 as soon as possible and we call on the UK Government to legislate on this, both to enfranchise 16-year-olds in Scotland, and to lead the way to extend the franchise across the UK
The Votes at 16 coalition campaigns for 16 and 17 year olds to be able to vote in all UK public elections. Launched in 2003, the coalition is made up of young people, organisations and politicians who believe the voting age should be lowered to 16.
