I strongly support keeping the current staffing levels at HW School. Losing Mr. Denien and Ms. Mac would truly hurt the school.

It will hurt the Hubbard Woods family to lose Mr. Denien or Ms. Mac.

This is such a slippery slope, starts with art and music, then gym, then computers, then remedial support and the next thing you know you have a situation like San Francisco, where the schools are so poorly funded that the PTA has to raise money to pay for, art music and PE teachers. I think we need to reframe this debate not about cutting the quality of education but how to plan for fluctuations in enrollment.

Art and music education has been drastically reduced in schools across the country, but Winnetka has held firm in the belief that it is critical to the education of the whole child. Our schools are recognized across the country as shining examples of what excellent public school education can be. Please--let's not start chipping away at what we have. Please maintain the outstanding art and music teachers that we have at Hubbard Woods.

Part time = inferior; full time = superior. Let's keep art and music at HW superior!

It is unacceptable to loose these teachers as a part of our children's education and enrichment!

Even though this vote only appears to affect Hubbard Woods, it will have repercussions throughout the district. As a home owner in Crow Island area, I am concerned the Board will continue to make cuts and all D36 children will suffer.

For insight into the value of art in education, look at today's news of the gift from Hobson/Lucas to the University of Chicago Lab School for arts education. From Lucas: "We believe in the power of art to transform lives and communities." Let's find a creative solution to our D36 financial situation.
