Vote NO on Utah SB182 & HB235!

Don't hurt long term business growth for short term gain.

This is a stupid bill. Bloggers in Utah pay way more in income tax as well as a fair share of sales taxes than the little bit of income that these bills would create

What will happen if this bill passes? Affiliate companies will happily absorb this massive administrative burden, perform massive IT and business process upgrades to track, manage, and pay for a Utah State sales tax nexus. These affiliate companies will not worry about competitors without a Utah nexus, whose prices are lower, impacting their revenue and competitiveness. OR Companies will stop offering affiliate programs in Utah, resulting in less income to Utah state residents, thereby lowering tax revenues. People doing affiliate business in Utah will move their affiliate businesses (and possibly themselves) to another, more intelligent, state reducing Utah's economic output and lowering state tax revenue. Who believes it will not be the latter choice? The internet economy is here to stay. The burden of the current sales tax system in America is not conducive to this new information age. There are much better ways to deal with this issue than State governments trying to create a sales tax nexus burden on business wherever possible. The states who embrace this reality, and find ways to encourage and promote the Internet economy in their state, will be the ultimate winners.

I am a concerned Utah resident and/or an affiliate marketer in the state of Utah who vehemently opposes Senate Bill 182 and House Bill 235. I ask my elected representatives, as a Utah citizen, to vote NO on these bills.

Help our small businesses grow. Don't hinder them.

Passing this bill will directly take money away from stay at home moms and small online businesses who, for the most part, are struggling to keep their businesses going! Please do not pass this bill!!!

HB 235 is bad for Utah. There are over 10,000 Utah families who depend on the income of bloggers who are affiliates. The facts show that in other states this legislation ends up only hurting the small businesses in that state. Instead of creating more tax revenue, bloggers go out of business or move to another state. This bill will not affect Amazon or any of the businesses using affiliates, they will simply cancel contracts in Utah and continue the ones with bloggers in other states without Nexus. Legislation should never do harm to Utah residents. Military families are especially vulnerable because they cannot move. Why would we want to create legislation though that would force someone to leave Utah in order to maintain their livelihood? We spend millions of dollars bringing businesses to Utah to encourage people to move here. We make more tax revenue by having them pay property taxes and local sales tax when they use their affiliate income to buy things in Utah. These bills will "kill" stay-at-home moms who have online businesses so they can be at home with their children.

I don't believe small businesses need another tax forced onto them. I'm not a business owner. I am a consumer and I use all the resources I can to save money for my family. It would not only affect the business, but it would affect us the families using them. Thank you, Sarah

I am totally against this law and don't feel that you are helping any one

I own a website located in Ohio and our Utah affiliates are an important part of marketing our store.

I would like to keep jobs in Utah and not give them insetives to leave the state. This is how there federal government does busniess.

Given the precedence of what is happening, it seems to me that Utah needs to take a step back and really look at this law again. I believe there needs to be a nationwide governors conference and a consensus among states. It doesn't deem to make sense to pass this law add it is.

More crushing of small businesses by government red tape. Please don't go for this.

Just a bad idea all around. Net effect will be counterintuitive.
