You were elected to represent us as legislators under Article IV of the New Jersey Constitution. Since March 9, 2020, Governor Murphy has ruled by executive order. While it is debatable whether his emergency powers have ever been necessary, it strains reason to believe the Constitutional authority granted to the legislature should continue to be undercut by the Governor after 672 days.

We respectfully request you reject Governor Murphy’s request to extend his authority to govern Covid related issues by executive order. For 672 days, we have had no voice in the legislature regarding Covid related issues. We ask that you, as our elected legislators, retake the authority we elected you to have and govern as the State of New Jersey should be governed. With checks and balances. We may not agree with your legislative decisions; we simply ask that you accept the opportunity – and obligation - to represent us.
