Having come from South Africa we made an informed decision to invest a lot of money into our children’s education by sending them to the junior school due to the fact that this would give them a solid educational foundation AND a promised AUTOMATIC feeding into the Senior School.
The fact that we have had to endure over the years - 3 changes in leadership, under qualified teachers, change in curricula and an incompetent past principal which was all complained about several times to no avail and NOW this!! And add to that the COVID situation!! This is TOTALLY unacceptable and completely unprofessional.
In full agreement with the Petitions agenda. If the pupils are not meeting the criteria then I feel this is the school’s responsibility to look closer at their teaching levels and perhaps send teachers on teacher training/ employ teachers with the necessary qualifications. This a a breach of contract from the Academy’s side because this is what we were promised and the reason why we and I believe many other parents enrolled their children at great expense at the junior school.
Mrs Smith has been handed this melting pot of problems and is doing a phenomenal job in trying to sort everything out!
Mess ups of her predecessors that you are now trying to penalise our children for!!!

Very unprofessional towards our children’s education.The educational system must get better so all children can go to the senior school without having to sit exams .

It used to be that American Academy had the highest standards of education and that it supported a uniform system that took kids from grade 1 to graduation day, ready and equipped for higher education. What i see happening now is a Circus that cannot be controlled. I really agree that time and money should be invested to the junior school and if resources are not enough let Senior school share its profits in order to solidify the base of its student production. The problem does not lie in the children and/or any entry exams. Otherwise close the junior school and so we can take our kids elsewhere...!!!

In sending my 4 children to the school we was told they automatically gain a place to the senior school and to have this revoked is unprofessional. Maybe new children joining the school should have this in their contract but not current pupils.

I must agree , I have 4 children in the school . To then say 1 from the 4 could not go through would be terrible, as this was the main question I asked when joining the academy . I think if they want to bring in “new” rules for something as serious as this, it should be for “new” pupils . As they can be explained this from the start at make there choice at that point .

This is what I personally sent to the CEO the headteachers and who else was involved
Dear AA CEO / Board Members / Head of Senior / Head of Junior School / PTA Executive committee members
It has come to my attention that the school is trying to change the current methodology of transitioning from Junior to Senior school.
And that they will be only a small number of available places that’s not enough for all the Junior students.
Which is not what we where told when we signed up.
You reason is A and B and C….. and what ever you want to call it.
I will be quite frank and not waste yours or my precious time…..
For the last 8 years a child from Nursery 1 to the last year of Junior School is calling the school a home, a place he is safe a place he has friends, teachers, activities interests and a plethora of reasons he/she used to build a stable personality, confidence, and character.
And after all that time you, with your new Methodology he/she fails and cant be accepted to senior school or she passes but there are not enough seats then what ? ? ? ? ?
After 8 years of nurturing a person with love and care you tell them to **** *** ( its 2 words first begins with F and second ends with F) .
You just shattered a 12 year old and thrown him away like he is nothing more than trash. What do you think of the permanent damage you just caused to that child ? to be rejected from the place he was feeling safe and secure ?
Then where is he going to go ? Not a public school because of the Language barrier, what about the other private schools ? if they have openings maybe……… So a lot of ifs and unknowns for the child and his family
Cyprus is a small country, Larnaca a small town you know that their will be a stigma for that child, because this is how our society is. This is not UK with thousands of schools and choices, you throw someone out it’s the same as ruining their whole life.

The owner of AAJS is admitting that is not delivering the product that we pay them to provide. Instead of correcting this issue (that they created) they are treating JS as a different entity from AA school that has no place in AA’s education. This is utterly unethical. Obviously JS existence for them is not to provide academic education to high standards but a money making cow to provide funds to the senior school.

If the students from the AA junior school are not up to standard, then this issue should be addressed with the teachers of the junior school. The children (and paying parents) should not be a victim for the poor standards set by the AA junior school. This is a matter of the junior school and senior school enhancing their level of communication and to be better aligned as an establishment. We, as parents have put out upmost faith in the AA and have put the future of our children in the hands of administration.

All of this would not be an issue if the quality of education was at least at public school standard . We demand a strict and high level education and we completely refuse admission exams or transit exams from the same institution/organisation .
