Parking Pain! The Recent Bureaucratic Parking Enforcement in Baltic Quay Dear all, We are angry and frustrated residents of Baltic Quay seeking justice for the recent bureaucratic measures posed on us in the name of ‘PARKING CONTROL’. While we understand the importance of using allocated parking spaces and it’s restricted availability to the residents, at the same time we think it’s being used nothing but as a bureaucratic measure to make money by a private company. We are pretty sure that 90% of the residents here share the same emotion, as our workmen, plumbers, friends, family can’t even park their cars on the unmarked bays for 15 mins to drop a letter or see us! However, the most SHOCKING thing was me getting an enforcement ticket for parking on the communal ground (with a PERMIT ON), while going up and down to load my car (stayed there 20 min max). Within a month I got another ticket as my wife parked our car on our allocated bay but forgot to put the permit up as she was shattered by news of her job loss that day. We appealed the case, and found the reply from MINISTER BAYWATCH extremely APTHETIC, INHUMAN, and COMPULSIVE, saying there is no way but to pay the fine!!! Like us I have seen a lot of residents here been victimised and harassed for NOTHING! While some big van blocks the fire exists all night and gets away with it. We are sure that majority of the resident here will agree that we pay the highest rent/mortgages in this area for security and peace of mind…then why we are going through such a torture and our rights been invaded in such bureaucratic way?! I have been charged £220 in last 2 months for parking/loading on my own rented property and rented parking space! The so-called ‘Parking Control’ company is exploiting the residents here under the name of ‘law and enforcement’. However, they MUST know we are educated enough to know the ‘Law’ – “there is little scope for social control in English contract law…in the context of consumer contracts, penalties may be unenforceable as ‘unfair terms’…[where] ‘unfair terms’ is a term that’s not being individually considered or negotiated” [Consumers Contracts Regulations 1999] WE WANT TO TAKE THIS COMPLAIN TO THE COMMITTEE & WE WANT YOUR SUPPORT TO KICK OUT SUCH INHUMAN PARKING ENFORCEMENT ‘BUSINESS’ FROM THE BALTIC QUAY Please sign the Petition if You Have Gone Through the Same Great Experience
