Voluntary Ban on Campfires in Coloma/Lotus area

Please protect all by implementing this.

I recently moved to the area and would really like to do everything possible to prevent fires!

it's ridiculous to have fires there now

California’s highest fire risk month is still weeks away and already we are overwhelmed by fires and smoke. Accidents happen despite best practices and good intentions. Campground owners, please take the lead on this with a self-imposed moratorium on camp fires thru the end of fire season. We will all be grateful, and you can be a model for other campgrounds, businesses and private individuals in our community and throughout California. Thank you.

Banning campfires now and through every future time of high fire danger is the right thing to do. No individual is careful enough to have a safe fire when every nearby twig and blade of grass is desiccated.

We need a ban to protect our property.

ALL fires should be banned, including private ones. Private fires are no safer and can be just as devastating as any other fire. Having a distinction between the 2 makes no sense!

As a property owner just downstream from camps in the Coloma Lotus area, I am not burning on my property. The county is not issuing burn permits to clear land, and air quality is dangerously poor. Please stop allowing campfires.

Really- people need fires in their campground!

I find it appalling that the rights of individual campers would override public safety and the safety of our first responders who rish their lives and health to protect the public and are in short supply. We are bringing firefighters from Israel, Canada, Australia, so that some idiot can have a camp fire. Astonishing.

All it takes in these dry conditions is a single spark. Save fires for when it's cool and damp out. Thank you.

Please put our community first and ban all fires of any type throughout each and every fire season.

It is beyond me why our county government hasn’t banned campfires some weeks ago.

Really hoping that the same rules for burning apply to all.

I believe that ALL campfires should be banned during the fire season; campfires are an UNECESSARY risk and produce airborne irritants to say nothing of their contribution to more CO2. It's NOT essential for anyone to have a campfire; they are only for ambiance and making smores. Campfires are a luxury that we neither need nor can afford.

This is a remarkably simple request, which I hope everyone will take to heart. Campfires, non-EPA wood stoves and chimneys--all have the potential to cause enormous harm. Why risk it? And if you choose to allow the risk for a reason I haven't considered, what liability coverage do you maintain and has your insurer been informed of your choice?

This is an emergency situation in the region and any camper that you would want to have as a guest, will clearly understand that this is in the interest of public safety and not a compromise of freedom.
