Certain owners of 2012-2013 Volkswagen Golf R models are experiencing a rattling (can of loose marbles) noise from their engine compartments under low engine loads and low RPM (1500-3000). When the owners bring the vehicle to a Volkswagen dealership, they are told that nothing wrong can be found or that the rattling is common to the vehicle.

However, Volkswagen issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB # 2024061) which describes an identical rattle under identical conditions. The TSB does not include the Golf R models and therefore little is done at the dealership level.

Since Volkswagen has acknowledged a rattle problem with other engines, it is very possible that there are engines in additional models that need to be addressed.

This petition serves as a collection of vehicles that are experiencing this rattling noise from their 2012-2013 Volkswagen Golf R models and would like to have a resolution in place just as Volkswagen did for other models in TSB # 2024061.
