"What CPS does correctly, trained law enforcement could and should do." Abolish Texas CPS! Published by S. J. Lowery Category: Government/Law Region: United States of America Target: State of Texas Description/History: It remains unclear exactly when Texas CPS made the decision to remove more than 400 children from their homes. It was before arrangements were made for the military personnel carrier, troops with machine guns, the SWAT team, the Texas Forest Service and various other agencies to be there in numbers that totaled more than 700 people. This raid began at 9 PM so the younger children were removed from their beds to be taken off into the darkness by strangers. Previous incidents leave us to conclude that parental intervention would have led to being gunned down. The medical helicopter hovering overhead, the smashed gate leading to the YFZ ranch and the great arsenal of weaponry available to deal with the unarmed FLDS members could have easily turned into a blood bath. Based on bias and conjecture more than 400 children were kidnapped and terrorized. CPS spokespeople claim this was business as usual except on a larger scale and that is one of the only truths that came out of this entire fiasco. The signing of this petition does not reflect personal views about the FLDS beliefs. It is solely about protecting families and children from the wrath of a runaway organization. The petition: Our children need protection but many Texans view CPS actions as harmful rather than helpful. Many of the employees of CPS are childless and/or have a history of being abused. These factors distort the view of the worker. CPS takes an adversarial stance against parents who are viewed as guilty until/unless innocence can be proven. In most situations the best course of action is for the child to remain in the home. When possible, a partnership between agency and parents should be established to determine the best interests of the child. CPS is always in the attack mode, they can take your children with no proof of wrongdoing and courts see them as experts. There is no way to fight this agency that has become the fourth branch of government and the only branch that is not required to work within the bounds of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. When a child is or might be in danger the public has the responsibility of calling 911. Police can quickly size up a situation and determine if they have walked in on a crime scene. Having police as first responders will save children

We are proud Texas residents who have been shamed by Texas government at work. CPS has become the 4th branch of government. They have been given broad powers by those that did not have them to give. These powers allow for bypassing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and act in a heavy handed manor that is not an option in other branches of government. CPS is a tool to legally do the illegal. Using children as political pawns has done an extensive amount of damage. Texas can do better.
