The Flea Market at Eastern Market has been held Sundays in the Capitol Hill neighborhood outside the historic Eastern Market since 1984. As of May 2016 it had operated for more than 20 years outside the adjacent Hine School, when it was relocated to the 7th Street location due to development.
The Flea Market at Eastern Market recently celebrated its 34th anniversary, in that time the market has hosted vendors from over 5 continents and continues to offer unique and diverse products to its many new and long time customers.
As a small business that got its start popping up on extremely cold and hot mornings at Eastern Market we understand the important role this market plays in not only the community but also the small businesses it helps sustain.
This market has played an extensive role in the development of our business as well as the specialty coffee industry as a whole. Through our platform at Eastern Market we have been able to interact with thousands of people and educate them on the ever growing specialty coffee market and the importance of buying from your local roaster. There are currently no local coffee roasting companies within the vicinity of Eastern Market that have the opportunity to not only serve a delicious product, but also educate many consumers about a product they enjoy on a daily basis.

Eastern Market is one of the attractions that brought me to Capitol Hill, where I've lived for 4 years now. It's the place I bring visitors who are new to the city (or who have only ever done the monuments), and where I get unique gifts and fresh produce. The community, and DC, will lose so much if it's shut down.
Vigilante coffee is a hometown D.C. Mainstay. They are socially conscious, push for the highest quality, and have developed integral relationship within the D.C. Community as well as in their origin locations. Keep them at Eastern market!
The Eastern Market Flea Market is a DC tradition that should continue to provide a splash of local color to the Capitol Hill neighborhood. And it vendors are a vital part of the experience. Vigilante Coffee is a DC born-and-bred business that is nationally recognized for high quality coffee - and they got their retail start at the Flea Market. Please keep their local ties intact by giving them a space at Eastern Market Main Street.
Support local! Too many small businesses nurtured in the city are being forced or priced out of the market they helped create
Keep Vigilante Coffee at the Eastern Market. I go there from Alexandria just to buy Vigilante coffee wares - beans, brewed coffee, cups, kettles, and shirts. I always buy more things from other vendors - have breakfast or lunch with my family, backpacks and messengers bags, meat and veg, antique re-mod furniture. KEEP VIGILANTE @ EASTERN MKT!
Vigilante is not only a great coffee, but a wonderful company and small business. We should be supporting small businesses like these that keep our community and economy going.

Even though we have moved out of state, we still crave Vigilante and have it shipped to our new home. Please keep Vigilante accessible to the Eastern Market community and its many visitors!
