Vestal Central School District Parent Petition opposing the reopening plan for the 2020-2021 school year

We the parents of the student body of the Vestal Central School district in Vestal, N.Y. do hereby oppose the proposed reopening plan for the 2020-2021 school year. At this time the parents, advocating for their children, are requesting a full review and redesign of the proposed plan to be resubmitted for review by the state and the parent body. There are open questions and concerns centered around Education being supplied and educational materials befitting the needs of the children, Special Education and the adherence to AIS, 504 and IEPs, Transportation, Safety, sanitation protocols while the children are in attendance, class room set ups and the lack of repurposing space to allow for better social distancing and inclusion. There are many unresolved concerns around social and emotional learning being provided, behavioral and mental health, welfare and safety as well as nutrition. Please let it be known any survey submitted by the school district proposing acceptance of the plan from parents was presented to the parents as a survey to gather information but did not offer the parents the ability to show opposition to the plan. Any survey showing the parents acceptance of the plan should not be accepted by the state as the data was collected under false pretense

This plan is rushed and is not well thought through. It doesn't take into account the most recent science on how this virus is transmitted. Go back to the drawing board and tryin again.
Need more in person learning. 1-2 days is not enough.
my kids need full time school, both elementary and one is special needs.

My kids need in school learning! We are so terribly scared of regression and have seen it already! The teachers and staff are amazing, and ubderstand people who don't want to go back. However that being said, virtual learning is near impossible with two parents who work full time 9 to 5, let alone my kids would not sit for hours at a time on a chromebook.
