The Gamers Coin

Help Us Get it Recognized By the Large Game Retailers and Manufacturers

Vertcoin is a rewarding coin for people who aren't buying large farms of GPUs or adopting the ASIC method and farming Litecoin/Bitcoin. It allows users of High End Gaming rigs to have a foothold in the Cryptocurrency Market without being at a disadvantage to the "Monopolies" created by other coins who are not as resistant to ASIC's and Multipools.

As Individuals with Gaming rigs or just Powerful Machines well know they don't come cheap. It is nice to know that the computer that cost me a pretty penny can help to pay me back while i am at work, or out at the park with my Daughter. What we are missing is the direct ability to directly exchange these coins for Digital or Physical goods.

Imagine Playing World of Warcraft and making a in game purchase using the Vertcoin you mined that week while you were at work. Or logging into your Steam account and having the ability to purchase that new Alpha game. Maybe you don't want digital and Gamestop has what you need for your Xbox, you could instantly buy it with your Vertcoin.

I believe that with Vertcoin's resistance to being monopolized by the GPU Farms and the ASIC's developed for Scrypt mining. It Has the Potential to be "The Gamers Coin". A Coin that pays to Play, and Rewards our Merchants with Cash we happily Gathered with the very same Machines we intend to play their Merchandise on.

This petition is to help gain recognition for Vertcoin as a Gamer currency, and to let the companies see how many Users actually believe in it and would utilize it if introduced by Companies such as:

Blizzard

EA

Steam

Gamestop

Origin

Info on the coin can be found at http://www.vertcoin.org

A few details are below.

Technical Details
Algorithm: Scrypt-Adaptive-Nfactor (Not scrypt-jane)
Generation: 84 million VTC
Block time: 2.5 minutes
Block Rewards: 50 coins per block
Subsidy halves every 840,000 blocks (~4 years)
Difficulty Re-Target Time: Retargets every block (Kimotos Gravity Well)
Premine: Zero - not premined

"Vertcoins algorithm has been designed to resist the development of custom mining hardware, and multipool mining ensuring that transactions are validated by a widely distributed network and avoiding the selling pressure when large mining pools indiscriminately flood the market with freshly mined coins"

(Below is an Excerpt from The Vertcoin Paper by David Muller)

"Vertcoin is a cryptographic currency, similar to Bitcoin and Litecoin, with one major difference. As the forerunner of the digital currency movement, the original Bitcoin developers were unable to perceive all potential threats that would arise to challenge it's mission as a decentralized currency.

Scrypt was utilized by Litecoin to try and deter ASIC use because large memory requirements are the best way to try and make ASIC financially unfeasible. Litecoin held out for a while, but the original memory requirements in the barebone litecoin distribution were just not high enough to lock out ASIC completely.

Vertcoin has now been released as the logical evolution of Litecoin and introduces what's known as "Adaptive N‐Factor". The N‐factor component of Scrypt determines how much memory is required to compute the hashing functions. Vertcoin N‐factor increases with time to stay one step ahead of any possible ASIC development."

Seeing this kind of movement is honestly wild because I really just started this out of frustration with how hard it is to actually use the coins my rig mines. It feels like we are finally onto something real here and I keep thinking about how much easier life would be if I could just pay for my next Steam purchase with what I mined during the day while I was out.

Great idea! As a Asian kid with strict parents, mining is probably the only way I can get games... Hope cudaminer will support scrypt n soon!

As a gamer, I started mining Vert to make use of all the idle time I tend to have on my PC. Unlike Bitcoin, and quite possibly Litecoin in the near future, Vert's ASIC resistance means that my gaming rig actually has a chance to generate coin without getting blown up by ASIC farms.

Oh dear... What have I started? This is a wonderful idea though... at least for short term advertising. VTC aims higher than just a gamer coin, but advertising it as being the gamer's choice of cryptocurrency due to being ASIC-Proof could help iVTC gain more attention.

We NEED this. Something similar to the succesful digibyte gaming would be cool.
