Vermont Spikehorn Petition

We, the undersigned, being voters and licensed sportspeople of the state of Vermont and supporters of the SPIKEHORN BAN that is now in place, do hereby petition our Fish and Wildlife department, our Commissioner, our Fish and Wildlife Board, and our Governor to refrain from making any changes whatsoever to the present Ban on shooting spikehorn bucks for at least three years, and then only if there are demonstrated and widespread provable and recorded negative impacts on our state deer herd and that those negative impacts are directly related to the Ban.

We are further of the belief that our herd has improved in both weight and antler size and number of points and that fluctuations in herd size are directly related mostly to severity of winter and availability and quantity of habitat and forage.

I believe that if we are able to shoot spikehorns again Vermont should go to a one buck limit season that way people would pass up small bucks but the people that don't have the time to hunt have the opportunity to harvest one.

Keep the ban. The deer around here are finally looking healthy again and i dont want to see us go back to shooting everything that moves.

LEAVE IT ALONE. we need to let the deer herd grow and get older. sick of seeing button bucks shot in the first hour.
