Vending Machine Petition

For the past 50 years, the rate at which child obesity has raised is at an alarming rate. Children eat unhealthy food every day causing them to inherit bad habits in the food they eat. Since 1980, the percentage of children aged 6-11 years that were obese increased from 7% to nearly 18% in 2012. And for children aged 12-19 years, it has increased from 5% to nearly 21% in the same amount of time. Children who are obese at a young age, are at a great risk for cardiovascular disease. Teens who are obese are more likely to have prediabetes. Children and adolescents who are obese are more likely to be obese as adults and are therefore more prone for adult health problems such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and osteoarthritis. But with the help of the community we can help lower these reared so that way we don't have to see children suffer with this disease. We must try and get the Department of Education to take out the vending machines that are currently in public schools (or any other type of school) and replace them with vending machines that only provide healthy options to eat. This way children will learn to develop healthy habits in eating. It is our responsibility to help children all over the world who are suffering from being obese or having obesity.
