The biggest factor in vehicle safety, especially motorcycles, is visibility. If your not seen to others then there is no safety concern. It is said that 8 out 10 motorcycle accidents had the same excuse," I didn't see them".
If you have ever looked at the outside of a vehicle, especially from the side, there is no lights which in fact can increase visibility making the vehicle even safer because of increased visibility.
