This petition was started to encourage Kingston Hospital and their parent corporation, Hudson Valley Health Alliance, to once again allow women the option to choose a Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC).
Research has consistently shown VBAC to be a reasonably safe option, and cesareans to have their own set of risks. It is for this reason, among others, that women should be given a balanced set of risks as well as the option for a VBAC should they so choose.
The momentum surrounding this petition confirms that many families desire more options for their birthing experiences at Kingston Hospital. This level of engagement demonstrates that the community expects a balanced discussion regarding clinical choices.

Let us choose. My doctor agreed it was safe but the hospital policy blocked it. So frustrating.

Ridiculous that this is even a debate in 2016. VBAC is safe and should be standard care at every hospital.

Every woman deserves a choice in how they birth their baby. C-sections are major surgery and shouldn't be the only option.

Supporting my sister on this. Her first birth was traumatic and she should be allowed a different experience next time.

THIS IS ABOUT MY BODY AND MY CHOICE. Kingston needs to get with the times already. Stop forcing surgery on women who don't want it!!
