The Value Added Model element of the Palm Beach County Teacher evaluation system is an assessment piece that fails at its objective. There is substantial evidence that Value Added Models do not produce stable ratings of teachers. The formula in which "value" scores are derived isn't understandable. The use of test scores as a basis for teacher evaluations will adversely impact students. The rating system will cause division within school communities. The Value Added Model is a flawed approach to measure the effectiveness of teachers and it should be removed from the formula currently implemented.
