The city finally confirmed the plans to pave the biking and running lane along Valhi Blvd. It has been a long and draining road to get here but I am relieved that we can move forward safely. Keep an eye on the construction updates because we need to hold them …
Houma, LA ~ There is a need to provide a safe lane for cyclists and pedestrians without having to face the hazards of vehicular traffic. A paved lane dedicated to biking & running would serve this purpose. On the west side of Valhi Blvd runs a grassy right-of-way approximate 100 feet wide which would provide an excellent location for such a lane.
We the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to add a paved biking/running lane the 4.25 mile length of Valhi Blvd (including Valhi Extension) from St. Charles Ave to Savanne Rd.
The grind is exhausting but I see the numbers climbing toward our goal. Pushing to hit two hundred fifty signatures is the only way we force them to stop ignoring this stretch of road.

One hundred people have signed on to fix Valhi Boulevard. It has been a long road already but seeing this number confirms that I am not the only one tired of the current state of these streets.

The momentum is slowing down just as we approach our first hundred names. I am drained from the constant outreach but we need this small milestone to show the local council we have real momentum. Please take a second to send this link to a few neighbors who use Valhi Blvd.

The current setup is incredibly dangerous for bikers.
Please create a separate lane so that bikers aren't struck by cars.

PLEASE fix this. i try to run down here but the traffic is scary. it really makes no sense to have all that space and not put a path.

I ride my bike to work on Valhi all the time and cars drive way too close. Need a real lane before someone gets hurt bad.

The shoulder is a total mess with all the gravel and weeds. paved path would be way safer for everyone in houma.
