We the undersigned licensed, certified, certified general and licensed trainee appraisers, and other lending professionals have come together to form a petition to ask that our State Appraisers Board of the VDPOR to act on our wishes to prevent appraisal companies/individuals without competency of a market to please not be allowed to supervise licensed trainees, and unlicensed assistants. Of the undersigned it will state in the comments section: license type, and if the person is not an appraiser, it will state their relationship to the lending profession, or if they are a citizen signing for action. It should be a mandated requirement within the State regulations for the appraisal Board that all supervisors be at a minimum be current subscribers of the MLS system they are supervising in, have intimate knowledge of the nuances that affect that market, can show that they perform work personally in that market. If these conditions are not met, than the company/individual that is supervising the trainee should not be allowed to hold a license to appraise in the Commonwealth as it violates the public trust, and causes undo harm to the clients and borrowers that depend on the report being performed.
