I just received confirmation of 20% disability for service related injuries. I received an SSB in 1992. I was informed that the are snatching the disability payments to recoup the SSB! How, this program was set up to help the Armed forces by reducing staff. Now your punishing me for service connected disabilities! Wow

TO ALL MY FELLOW CONRAD WHO WERE MISLEAD BY THE SSB BY THE ARMY WE SHOULD VOICE OUR CONCERNS AND BE HEARD IN FRONT OF U.S. CONGRESSIONAL AND THE SECRETARY OF THE ARMY. YES WE WERE BOUGHT OUT IN ORDER FOR THE ARMY TO MEET THERE DRAWDOWN. THE RECOUPE BY DFAS HAS CAUSED ME TO BE IN A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP AND MY LAST RESORT IS TO FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY ON BUT BY MISLEAD FOR THE ARMY TO MEET THERE DRAWDOWN QUATAS. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED ABOUT A MOST RECENT PUBLISHED ARTICLE REGARDING A NATIONAL GUARD RECRUITING WHO WERE INFORMED THAT THEY WERE SUBJECT TO REPAY THE ARMY BACK. YES ALL THAT WERE PUT TO HALT BY THE SECRETARY OF THE ARMY. WE HAVE ALL MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRAFICES WEATHER YOU DEPLOYED OR NOT. WHEN WE RAISED OUR HAND WE DID IT TO DEFEND AND PROTECT OUR COUNTRY AND I BELIEVE OUR COUNTRY CAN DO THE SAME FOR ALL OUR MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED. THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS. I WILL FIND OUT FROM MY CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE HERE IN THE WASHINGTON STATE AREA AND GET MORE INFORMATION TO BE HEARD IN FRONT OF U.S. CONGRESSIONAL HEARING TO HAVE THE LAW CHANGE.

Our government needs to fix this problem of causing Veterans hardships for serving their country willingly and drawing down willingly. If things were different they would have stayed in the military and reached full retirement. Their families would not be affected now.

I got out under the VSI incentive 1992. According to my DD214 I was to receive yearly payments for 29 years. I never received any payments because I started collecting VA disability. One has nothing to do with the other. The contract I signed to exchange the remaining years of service left was with the Dept Of The Army not the Dept of Veterans Affairs. I was going to get paid by VA anyway for my disability but the funds to pay me should not have to come from the money I was paid to leave early. This is wrong in so many way.

The VA is taking my disability as well and I separated 2014.

I separated in Aug. 1995. now I can't even work. VA 80% P&T, 100% IU. VA withheld 100% of my compensation, recouping the SSB. I never re-entered the service.

VA also taking my disability payments. I got out in 1992, was told I couldn't work government jobs or I would have to pay it back, I never worked at any. Now they want the lump sum back after all this time. I had 16 1/2 years in, willingly to go bsvk sea duty ships company. My family was backing me up. Looking forward to retirement. But not now, unless I can stop these payments or be awarded retirement.

I don't see how you can call severance pay retirement. Why is disability lumped into either of those. Ask some homeless vets why they are homeless, and many of them will tell you that they only have to wait another three years until they can start getting benefits. They qualify, but have to pay back VSI . Since when was it intended to be a loan?

This is such BS! It is a slap in the face. Tease the men and women with a lump sum to get out early and dont tell them theyll have to pay it back later if they become disabled and then smack them in the face later on when they become disabled and cant work? Disgrace.
