A petition demanding a commitment to quality education at UWIC
This petition is directed to the Vice Chancellor and Academic Board of UWIC University following their decision to cut all History and Politics degree courses from the Humanities department. We, the undersigned, ask that the Vice-Chancellor upholds his assurances to current students in these departments that the quality of teaching on their programs will not be affected for the remainder of their degrees. With up to 2 years left to run on all affected programs, we believe that termination of the contracts of the current teaching staff is not in the best interests of these students. The department is currently staffed by two Doctors in Politics, a Professor of Politics and a History lecturer with 35 years experience. If this level of expertise is not maintained for the remaining one/two years of the student’s degrees, their quality of education will be severely affected. We also feel that the Vice-Chancellor's recent pay rise is completely unacceptable given theses proposals By signing this petition we demand that the University upholds its commitment to quality assurance and standards for the remaining two years of these degree courses and insist that the University discontinues exit negotiations with the current staff enabling them to remain for duration of the programs: BA Modern History and Politics
BA Modern History and English
BA Educational Studies and Modern History
