Every year the College of Architecture at UTSA is gaining more students and faculty. Every year the increasing number of freshman and growing study body puts further pressure on the already stressed computer and IT assets of the CoA. The school currently hosts 3 plotters and 3 computers to operate them. We (the student body) require access to more IT assets if we’re expected to work on and complete projects in an environment that currently necessitates continuous sharing of assets in order for all personnel to get their work completed in a timely manner. The current software is not adequate and the existing computers can not handle the output from the others in a timely manner. The server capacity currently available at the location also tends to slow down the processes of students working and printing with the demanding data processing nature of architectural software. We, the CoA student body, would like to see an increase in the number of computers and software available to us to better aid in our scholastic activities.
I have requested a formal meeting with the College of Architecture administration to present the current technical limitations documented in this petition. We are preparing a technical brief that outlines the specific server and hardware bottlenecks impacting student productivity.

Ridiculous that we pay this much tuition just to wait 4 hours for a plotter. Every studio night is just people fighting over one computer that actually works.
