We, the undersigned, are concerned University of Toledo Medical Center community members. We strive to carry out the UTMC mission to "improve the human condition by providing patient-centered, university-quality care." This "care" should include access to fresh, local foods for patients, their families, and the UTMC and greater Toledo communities. Nutrition is a key component of preventative care and will lead to long-term health and wellness. As a leader in healthcare, UTMC must strive to provide superior preventative care. Therefore, we propose modernization of the UTMC food services to create a culture of health based on up-to-date scientific knowledge.
