I don't think it's very smart for UTA to open just because they want to avoid more rescheduling of finals. Over 30,000 students commute and they are willing to risk their lives instead of rescheduling? I live on campus and I haven't even been able to try and walk anywhere. I'm surely not going to get in my car either, when I've been seeing cars sliding down the road in front of my own eyes. UTA make the right choice and remain closed for the safety of your students who commute and those of us on campus who are trapped.

My fiance' and I have been stuck in her apartment in her on campus apartment since thursday now and we still can not get our cars out of the garage or let alone walk down the street without slipping and falling down. I think UTA is crazy for trying to open tomorrow especially since everything is supposed to refreeze tonight.

I care more about the safety of students than saving money for the university. I wish the administration shared my same perspective.

My normal commute to school would be 35 minutes. With this weather and the road conditions near my home and the school, my commute will be closer to 2 hours. Can you imagine the traffic and accidents that will occur on Cooper St??

So what happens when we get 500 signatures? Can we send the link to the dean's email or something?

All of the schools around us are closed as well - Arlington ISD, Fort Worth ISD, TCC, TWU - all of them. This is absolutely ridiculous.
I want to get my finals over just as much as the next person but I'm not going to risk my life commuting to the university to do it.
If UTA has the STUDENT'S best interest and safety at heart, the university needs to be closed and the exams rescheduled to later in the week when the ice is gone and roads are safe for ALL of UTAs students, especially the commuters.

I don't even have school tomorrow but most of the students are commuters and it would be dangerous to have them drive to school.

Ridiculous UTA is risking 30,000+ students safety to avoid rescheduling finals. Safety should be above all, and it is NOT safe to drive in the current conditions, especially for how large of a commuter population UTA has.

If Arlington ISD is cancelling school for Monday, I don't understand why UTA won't cancel as well, considering students that attend AISD schools live within close distance to the schools compared to all of the commuting students of UTA.

Here in the south every business or organization is completely unprepared due to the lack of plows and salt. UTA has neither plowed nor salted any parts of the school. Ice is still there and its just gonna melt and freeze over again tonight. My whole street is completely iced over. Just close it.

I'm going to have to leave two hours earlier just to make it there on time, since my final is at 8am. Even UTD shut down! Great I have to choose between my safety versus failing my class, awesome.
