We, the undersigned, are patriotic Americans who support the establishment of the United States Public Service Academy. We believe that the Public Service Academy will be good for America and will help inspire young people to make this country a better place to live. The Public Service Academy will make an important contribution to our country because: Our country faces serious domestic and international problems in the twenty-first century, and we need more young people to go into public service as teachers, police officers, non-profit leaders, and other important public jobs. The Academy will provide a consistent flow of highly-qualified, service-oriented young leaders. Young people want to serve our country, but many prefer to serve in a civilian capacity. The Academy will be our first national college devoted to service outside of the military. Many young people enter college wanting to serve our country, but they cannot afford to pursue public service after graduation because they have accumulated too much debt. The Academy will give service-minded young people the opportunity to serve our country without enduring financial hardship. There is no college in the country that truly reflects the tremendous regional diversity of our country. The Academy will offer a unique campus that is devoted to service and brings young people from every part of the country to live, study, and serve together. We urge Congress to pass the United States Public Service Academy Act, S. 3958 and H.R. 6221.

Reaching one thousand signatures is a clear indication that a national institution for civilian service resonates with many people across the country. It is heartening to see so many individuals recognize the need for a dedicated path toward public work that is both accessible and mission driven.

I support the development of a US Public Service Academy. A graduate program would be excellent as well.

Seems like a solid plan. Hope congress actually listens for once.

This would be amazing for the country. We need to invest in the next generation of leaders who actually care about helping people.

About time we had something like this. Military academies are great but we need a civilian focus too.
