Hello! Since this is very late notice from SGA and our tuition is already one of the highest in the country, we thought it would be best if DUCOM absorbed the cost of USMLE Rx since they are requiring it, and/or to make it optional since some students may have already purchased other third-party resources and don’t need USMLE RX

Updates

August 4, 2022

The administration has acknowledged the volume of signatures and requested a formal meeting to discuss these tuition costs. I am drafting a proposal now to present the case for institutional coverage of these resources.

I already purchased the UWorld subscription through DUCOM. This is repetitive and won’t help anything but increase my indebtedness to the US government.

If we need to buy First Aid, Pathoma, UWorld, Boards and Beyond, Sketchy, and now ScholarRx, all to study for the important exams that are STEP, then Drexel should charge half the tuition they charge. We'll educate ourselves using the STEP resources and Drexel should charge us only for CBL, TBL, FPC, HAP. Asking us to buy ScholarRx is evidence that Drexel professors need to re-do the basic science curriculum so that it actually prepares students for STEP.

Already purchased UWorld through DUCOM. Cost is extremely late notice and should have been part of tuition, not cost of attendance. Loans have already been taken out previous to this cost being disclosed by the school.

Too much money for a resource I do not want, I prefer to use uworld, pathoma and sketchy.

I purchased a different STEP 1 resource through the DUCOM student organized discount so the mandatory added on STEP 1 resource required from the school would be redundant for me.

It was not made clear if this would take the place of UWorld, an expensive step prep resource that many students already purchased.

The cost of attendance for medical schools in general is far beyond reasonable for the education we receive. How is medicine supposed to "diversify" when it is a system designed for only the financially well-off (rich) to succeed?
