Have you ever been kicked off the grass or turf field by campus security? Ever wondered why, when no IM or sports teams are currently using them? Ever gotten some absurd excuse like "You're distracting from the baseball game" (easily my favorite so far)? Well I'm sending an email out to the UH Board of Regents, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Lui K. Hokoana, UH Manoa Chancellor, and the President of the UH Campuses M.R.C. Greenwood. I've seen countless students, including myself multiple times, get kicked off the fields when they were merely playing soccer, throwing a frisbee, running, working out, etc. It makes absolutely no sense for a school to kick students off their fields, especially if we're not destroying the fields. Campus Security is kicking students off for the complete wrong reason. Hell during that week of rain students were sledding on the grass destroying the field-- yet nothing was done. It's time we are allowed use of the fields with perhaps times from 6:00am to 12:00am when sports teams and IM leagues are not using the fields. Campus security has nothing better to do, they can lock up the fields at midnight not any earlier (negotiable). If a student is causing a problem then campus security can come in, but no more. I'm tired of being kicked off when all I'm trying to do is workout thus the creation of this petition. Please sign with your UH email!
