I'm just training my pup now using Paul Michaels Deer Dog Training Blueprint. I love dogs and I love hunting, so it makes sense to me to put the two together. I'd hate to put all this effort into my first deer dog to be banned from using her!!!

Deer dogs are a useful tool for hunting deer in NZ bush.

If there are no ground nesting bird species (kiwi, whio etc) in an area, dogs should be allowed by permit, regardless of land designation.

Dogs can go through kiwi aversion training if required for the area

With kiwi avoidance training more ares should be open to dogs. Most owners put alot of time in to training their dogs

To the New Zealand Government: Stop trying to bring in stupid rules preventing New Zealanders from doing good natural constructive activities in the bush and instead have a think about the fact that you are ruining the bush by dumping endless amounts of 1080.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with people hunting deer with a dog. As long as you can prove your dog has done the kiwi aversion training.

I would have thought that deer being a pest DOC would have been in favour

Indicating dogs are an important tool in hunting and pest management and should be allowed on crown land nationwide

We hunt with a Hungarian vissla. She is a highly well mannered dog. AND awesome company to have. Whilst causing no damage to the bush. There is no need to stop dogs going into DOC land with hunters.
