The trees in this area are a vital sound barrier from the train line as well as being a visual barrier to the ugly tracks situated behind them. They offer a good amount of CO2 to Oxygen regeneration that has been reduced already by the addition of housing estates and railway lines. Other than the fact that they are simply 'high maintenance', It seems to be a ridiculous and unnecessary task set out by network rail. I think the members of network rail responsible for this decision need to sit back and watch some children's TV, it's called the Lorax, even my children understand that trees are important.

We live in the countryside to see the trees and nature. Not to see train tracks. The British countryside is beautiful so leave that way

What has been done to the environment in the surrounding areas is atrocious especially in this day and age with what we know is happening to the environment and the long term effects it will have. The wildlife is already dramatically reduced - we have only lived in Bluemels since April - I am shocked that network rail think that this is acceptable. This needs to be stopped.

One of the attractions of coming to live in Wolston was because of the wonderful countryside and the wildlife that habitats it. It's outrageous that a company can just come along and decimate it. I understand certain trees may have to be managed but not this needless destruction on a large scale.

Greenland should be left as it is. I agree they may need trimming or brought down in size but not just taken out

It is in everyone's interest to sign this petition. Cutting these trees down will raise the noise level above what it already is for the people who live overlooking the railway, so it is in their interest to protest. Trees are also what stops hills and embankments from sliding, I'm amazed that they are cutting them down. Trees are vital. As the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world's wildlife. Trees create an ecosystem to provide habitat and food for birds and other animals. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and potentially harmful gasses, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, from the air and release oxygen. One large tree can supply a day's supply of oxygen for four people. Trees provide inviting and cool areas for recreation and relaxation such as playgrounds and parks. Trees create a tapestry of color and interesting form that changes throughout the year. The color green is calming and relieves eye strain. Trees screen unattractive views and soften the harsh outline of masonry, metal, asphalt, steel and glass. Trees absorb and block sound, reducing noise pollution by as much as 40 percent.

This will be absolutely devastating to the local wildlife at a time when British wildlife become more and more threatened.

Surely they cannot legally do this without consultation. Terrible behaviour from network rail and no respect for the environment. We moved here and accepted the rail noise due to the trees and greenery ... what now !

I fully support this petition. Network Rail cannot 'railroad' communities in this way without proper engagement and consultation. They must demonstrate corporate social responsibility and be held fully accountablefor their role in promoting a positive approach to environment management.
