Urgent Request to the US Surgeon General: Protect Young People from Irreversible Medical Harm

Please, Protect Young People from Irreversible Medical Harm and let them decide when they have the age and conciense to do what they want to.

I can tell you from experience that my son’s gender dysphoria is based on underlying issues. He is Aspergers and ADHD, very socially awkward, and has never had a close friend or a girlfriend. He was influenced by groups online because they “accepted” him. His counselor at college told him in the very first session that yes he’s transgender. Last I checked you don’t diagnose in one session. Please Please stop accepting this idea “fad” at face value. You have got to ask yourself why this is so popular now? It’s because it’s become a popular thing to do.

No child should be subjected to surgery. They need therapy first as long as it takes.

Please do the right thing and issue a statement on the harm of gender transition treatments on children. It's child abuse.

If young people are not allowed to drink alcohol until they are 21, why should they be allowed to take life altering medications, or have elective surgeries, when they may change their mind with age, and more life experience? How about voting? Driving? Getting a tattoo? A young person can be forbidden from all of these activities because of their age, and yet legally begin the process of changing their gender, becoming chemically castrated, and rendered unable to have children. A “child” should not be making these decisions, and parents should not be emotionally forced by the medical community to enable such experiments on their children with the threat of probable suicide, when this is unsubstantiated. Let children be children, and when a child is fully grown, he or she will make their own decisions. We can’t play God and change the gender of mere children. This is nothing short of abuse. When I was a child, I wanted to be a bear when I grew up. I am not joking. I was told I could be anything I wanted to be. I was determined to one day be a bear. Thank God my mother had common sense and didn’t begin medical treatments in an attempt to change my species. Thank God the medical community didn’t threaten her with the idea that if I wasn’t allowed to transition to my species of choice that I would eventually commit suicide. And As absurd as this sounds, we tell children then can change their gender. My desires changed, and children should be given the freedom to live with wild ideas, without parents and the medical community forcing them to live out their imaginations. This is dangerous. These ideas can wait. If we love our children, let them grow as they are. When they are adults, they can get a tattoo, drink alcohol, drive, vote, and do whatever ideas they might still have. Our daughter, at around age 15 began to think that she was transgender. She is now 17 and is considering transitioning to a boy as soon as she turns 18, believing lifelong treatment of synthetic testosterone, permanent body altering surgeries, and sterilization is the answer. She said she likes boys, but also believes she is a boy. We’ve talked to doctors and psychologists we know, off the record, who've expressed to us their opinion that taking hormones long term and that removing breasts and ovaries is gravely harmful to the majority of young people, but that laws keep their “hands tied.” She has been accepted to a public university in the fall. She knows transition will be easy to start once on campus because there is very little medical oversight of this issue at the campus clinics. We learned this government funded university provide gender "treatments," such as taking synthetic testosterone, with very little time spent evaluating the student. We have reached out to doctors, counselors for help, but because of laws and special interest groups, it is VERY difficult to get any help other than from those who affirming that she should pursue medical treatment

Children's safety is where this needs to end.

This is child abuse--experimentation with developing young children. Please--protect the children.

Wait til a child is of adult consent to decide what he wants to be. It’s natural for children to want to pretend or play. But making a 6 year old transition is child abuse. You are born a sex-make or female. DNA shows proof of that. Even if you want to be opposite gender at a later date they will always by DNA be showing their original gender. And due to the suicide rate of transgenders, I don’t believe that trans gendering is always the answer either.

This is totally against God's teachings. Please consider the burden that this mother is putting on her son's.

Please use common sense when looking at this. Review the statistics before doing irreparable harm to a child... children need time to grow and learn before making such rash decisions about gender. Gender questioning is an adult problem. A child must be able to grow to maturity before being allowed to mess with body chemistry.

Please do the right thing, for our children.

It's criminal to force treatment on children when they're too young to know what's being done to them.

Children need to be protected and not victimized by anyone else' s whims or delusions!

Children are not mature enpough to be making these kind of decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives.

This is child abuse. Please put a stop to it. There is a reason kids can't get tattoos, why should they be allowed to do irreversible, elective surgery?

From the 80s and 90s with girls starving and or cutting themselves to now girls going ROGD being told by the adults teachers and others that they can change their sex/gender and feel better. But no one tells them the they will have to live all their lifes on foreign drugs. Drugs that are not fully tested for usage on girls. Drugs that will according to some scientist shorten their lives and/or cause the to be permanently sick! Just look what happened to the state sponsored dopping of East German young athletes with Testosterone the 80s. Many of these athletes got seriously sick and or died all to young! Children and young people need careful counselling. These off-label drugs are dangerous and there have been no long term studies. Drugs and surgeries are no way to treat healthy children.
