Subject:Urgent Request to Clean Illegal Dumping Sites and Public Toilets

Dear Mayor Dube,

We, the undersigned residents of Newcastle Local Municipality, petition your office to urgently address the health hazard caused by illegal dumping sites and unmaintained public toilets in our communities.

The Problem:
Overflowing refuse and non-functional public toilets in [Madadeni Section 3,Ezibayeni] are creating sewage leaks, bad odours, and rodent infestations. This poses a direct health risk to children, the elderly, and nearby households.

2. Illegal Dumping Sites near and around the Ward 20 where community consisting of elderly people and children live posing a huge health hazards as the smell is unbearable and disgusting and it attracts huge rats and dead animals a thrown there.

We Request That You:

1. Deploy teams to clear all identified illegal dumping sites in Ward 20 by 15 May 2026

2. Repair and service public toilet facilities, with a regular cleaning schedule implemented by 15 May 2026

3. Provide a public update on progress to the affected wards

We believe swift action will restore dignity and prevent disease outbreaks. Please respond with your action plan by 15 May 2026.
