This petition is being created in the best interest of almost 200 students that desperately request your help in supporting us to keep Urdu as a subject at the Thomas Deacon Academy for KS3 AND KS4. Although unimportant to many, Urdu is a large part of a beautiful culture that is slowly disappearing from Britain, and the language is an important part of that culture that many would like to preserve. Furthermore, Urdu is the second most widely spoken language in the UK and a large contributor to Great Britain’s much respected multiculturalism. Urdu is a subject that any student can choose, a language that is expanding in other parts of the world. Your name and support will be appreciated beyond bounds in the signing of this petition. I have been hearing from so many students lately who are genuinely worried about losing this class and it really makes me realize how much this matters for our identity. I am currently trying to get someone from the department to actually sit down and talk about why they want to cut it because the silence from the top is just so frustrating right now.

My brother really wants to keep studying this. Its a huge part of our home life and school should reflect the students who go there.

Keep it! Theres no reason to cut a perfectly good subject that kids actually want to learn.
