We support our colleagues and neighbours who have participated in the Upper Rideau Community Design Plan and ask our Councillor and Mayor to uphold the principles of that plan. Please do not negate all the time and effort spent to come up with planning principles for Rideau Street and the designated heritage area on Besserer Street. Please reject the proposal by Richcraft to build a high rise tower on Rideau Street at Cobourg.

Nous demandons à notre conseiller et notre maire de s.v.p. voir au respect des principes énoncés dans le plan de développement de la rue Rideau. Ceux-ci ont été formulés par nos collègues et voisins ainsi que par de nombreux autres participants. La rédaction de ce plan Rideau ainsi que la désignation héritage de la rue Besserer représentent de nombreuses heures de bénévolat et de maints efforts de groupes de travail endossés par la Ville. Nous vous demandons donc de rejeter la demande de Richcraft pour l’érection d’une tour sur la rue Rideau à l’angle Cobourg.

I recently moved to Lowertown and I love its warm community look and feel. It is full of a variety of residential buildings, schools and shops and letting one high rise to be built will open the flood gates for encroachment of others and an end to the peace of this area.
I am a resident of Centretown and regularly shop (Loblaws, etc) and attend the Bytowne on Rideau Street East. I have read the letter of 24 April from the President of ASH and I fully support its well reasoned and balanced intervention.
What is the point of inviting residents to spend countless hours participating in the updating of the CDP only to have their views dis-regarded? I urge Council to build some backbone and reject the Richcraft proposal for 14 stories at Rideau & Cobourg.
As a homeowner within steps of this proposed tower, I favour a balanced and responsible approach to developing this site, one which respects principles of sound urban intensification in a mixed-use heritage neighbourhood.
Don't make uptown Rideau into an extension of the downtown core. only mid-rise, human scale development will allow uptown Rideau to become a vibrant, people centred community hub.
Je réitère mon opposition à des changements qui ne respectent pas les principes de planification. Ceci revient au non respect des citoyens contribuables.
Please respect the planning principles established by the community. No high rises.

The proposed design is completely out of step with the neighborhood and the work being done and supported by the city. Rushing this project forward ahead of agreement on the official plan for the area leaves the unintended impression that the city has another agenda at play.
