Petition to Uphold the Scientific Definition of Sex in Federal Law and Policy

Please continue to define sex based on biology and science, not ideology and feelings.

Sex is a material reality , not a feeling. Gender is just societal stereotypes/ roles. Sex based rights and protections must be preserved.

“Gender Identity” is a label with a lot of cachet at this moment and, as you know, has been rushed into legislation without proper debate. There is no evidence based research that people possess an innate gender identity or are “born in the wrong body” but it is being used legislatively. There are at least three definitions of gender depending on context: 1) gender used to denote biological sex; 2) a set of attitudes and behaviors deemed “masculine” or “feminine” by society that persists because of systematic rearing (gender as social construct); 3) a subjective feeling one is the opposite sex in spite of systematic rearing (innate gender identity). Listening to claims of transgender activists, it is easy to support some of the things for which they advocate. No one should be bullied or threatened or face housing or employment discrimination for being transgender. But there is more going on. There is this attempt to redefine sex as a feeling based on a “gender identity,” to deny the natural differences between men and women and to assert that sex is in no way rooted in biology. Can “woman” be just an identity, divorced from biology? If so, how do you protect the rights of something undefinable, unknowable, unfalsifiable that resides only in the minds of people? When anyone can identify as any class of people, the laws protecting that class are negated and are not necessary. Biology matters.

Let kids be kids and stop the raping of innocent and healthy children and stop the mutiliation of the bodies and minds of the healthy children.

Humans are a sexually dimorphic species. Society must recognise that sex is real and cannot be replaced by gender which is any old nonsense.

It’s time this very important issue is openly discussed and addressed. It’s not a time to be PC. We need our to lead, not cower to special interest groups.

Sex is a material definable fact. Gender is a personal undefinable feeling. We cannot have laws based on the undefinable.

Transgender people deserve protections. However, abandoning the definition of sex and adopting the vague definition of gender to replace sex will have catastrophic unintended consequences. We cannot currently conceive of all such consequences, but we have already seen a few--from eroding women's safe spaces, to redefining women's sports where women don't have a chance to win, to denying gender questioning youth (whose numbers are increasing at previously unseen rates) a chance to receive care that allows them to find peace in their unadultrated bodies, rather than becoming dependent on life-long courses of life-shortening hormones and sex organ removal surgeries that leave them infertile. The transgender individuals' health will be compromised as well, as the increasing numbers of health registries are failing to differentiate between sex and gender, leading to life-threatening mistreatments for trans individuals. Gender identity is a complex concept that needs to be treated with nuance. It serves no one to conflate sex and gender.

Protect girls. Protect women. Protect science. Stand for truth.

Please do not let uninformed/ideological "progressives" within your various departments derail scientific reality!

Biological sex is a material reality that must be defined as such to make meaningful laws and protections

Scientific, realistic and social clarity has to made in this controversial area. One cannot and indeed should not just declare you are of the opposite sex. Help should be given to that individual not encouragement without complete understanding of their decision/thoughts.

Need to adhere to documented science, not junk science.

Protect women's sex based rights.

I fully support this petition! The science behind the facts that there is a biological difference between male and female, which there is no argument that can be made change that fact, laws need to be/stay in place to protect women SEX base rights! No ideology, political or religious views should have any basis in changing that! The fact that there seems to be an infinity of genders, one must conclude that gender is more a personality now, and there are over 7 Billion personalities on Earth, yet only 2 Sexes! (excluding rare example as stated). Women have worked to hard for their rights and safety to lose them now!
