Petition to Uphold the Scientific Definition of Sex in Federal Law and Policy

Let’s not get crazy here.

No matter how a person feels or identifies, they retain their biological sex for life. It is not hateful or bigoted to acknowledge this reality. It is wrong to force society to go along with a lie. Additionally, biological sex-based protections are vital to girls' and women's participation in the public sphere. It is wrong to allow men who claim to be women to take hard-won opportunities away from women and girls, for example, males are more and more participating in female sports, taking job positions earmarked for women, and taking spaces in women's homeless shelters. If these thing are important to trans people then we need to create them for trans people separately rather than allowing males to colonize women's spaces and opportunities.

I agree.

At last someone bold enough to state truth, the reality of gender, male and female as we have been created, the one complementing the other. The very physical forms indicate their unity in the sex act. When will people learn to accept how we've been made. The way we think, our emotions, the way we react to circumstances are different because we're made to be so. As we go through puberty we all have to come to terms with our identity and at times there are certain things about our changing bodies we dislike. Our whole pattern of thinking is in confusion because of the emotional imbalance of our hormones, But we come through to appreciate the beauty of who we truly are.

Biological sex is NOT a spectrum. Acknowledging this doesn't prohibit equal rights for transgender & intersex people. Gender dysphoria is a real mental illness.

It’s not about ideology, it’s about biology and the inherent differences therein; especially with medicine and therapies. No hate whatsoever

I affirm this petition based on science and anecdotal evidence as well as historical evidence of emotional and mental health outcome. As a psychotherapist I can inform those with gender dysphoria that these issues can be successfully resolved in order to feel whole in one's biological sex.

I see diverse people and qualified professionals have signed this petition. I join my signature with theirs to uphold the original traditional and only real definition of sex for the sake and sanity of our society, not excluding my fundamental faith system. I have seen first hand the dangers, destruction, and disrespect of those that push the new definition of spectrum. They have harmed minds, bodies, and families! They have only given a false hope to those that are troubled and no real solutions.

If a person has two X chromosomes they are female. If a person has an X and a Y chromosome they are male. So called sex change operations are merely tinkering about with external anatomical features. The persons sex remains unchanged. It's hardly surprising that mental health issues amongst young people have increased

Seriously never thought I’d see this type of stupidity from people who are supposed to intelligent. Unbelievable.

Biological sex-based protections have been vital to girls' and women's participation in the public sphere. Transgender identified people deserve evidence-based treatment to alleviate their distress, not ideologically-based "affirmation".

I am completing a medical residency in comparative anatomic pathology and a PhD in biomedical sciences. It doesn't take a doctorate to understand the difference between male and female, but I have one, and I endorse this message 100%. The rights of transgender people are based on their innate sex - they deserve the right to be treated as a male who wishes to present as a woman, or vice versa, while also having their medical needs *as a male who is on female hormones*, or vice versa, addressed. Eradicating the legal definition of sex as a function of biology will put transgender people at risk. Further, the growing trend away from medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria, and towards self-identification policy (as is being discussed in Canada and the UK) has already been exploited by predatory men (see the references attached to the petition text). A reasonable balance between the needs of children suffering from gender dysphoria and the protection of vulnerable women must be met; defining legal rights according to gender identity rather than material reality tips the scale in favor of predators, and may, in the long-term, injure those children whose gender dysphoria is temporary (although no less severe; again, see the references attached to the petition text). Human rights must be based on objective, immutable, material, biological reality. Please uphold the scientific definition of sex in federal law and policy - it is crucial to health of the human population.
