Petition to Uphold the Scientific Definition of Sex in Federal Law and Policy

Male or female, period.

The sex of an individual is set at conception. It is confusing and damaging to determine gender in any other way.

I'm not signing in favor of the current administration but in favor of science. Just because I have disagreements with the administration doesn't mean I can't admit when they get something right.

This is exactly right.

I am a middle school teacher and I am starting to encounter this with my students. These students are emotionally a mess. How can they decide to change their gender when they are only children.

We should uphold the biological identity of the person as the definition of their gender

We totally agree with president Trump. God only made 2 genders, man and woman.

It is important to understand distinctions in the English language, and especially so with medical terminology as it objectively describes the world around us. Woman by definition is an adult human female. Man by definition is adult human male. If gender is purely a social construct, then there it is not an objective reality; purely opinion not founded in physical reality and impossible to describe. What does gender even mean if it does not describe sex? Biology is the study of living organisms and the description of observable and quantifiable characteristics. Me have XY chromosomes and woman have XX. Then genetic anomalies of intersex have varying sex chromosomes. But simply believing you are not you sex is a direct contraction to observable and objective reality.

Gender dystopia is a mental disease. Stop encouraging and abetting a mental illness and treat it as such. Encouraging this in children is child abuse.

Let’s not make things mire complicated than they have to be

Amen! Thank God someone finally stood up to the political bullying tactics. Still need compassion for same-sex attraction, but not in allowing them to derange science.

Man is created male, and woman is created female-no other sex!

The insanity of feelings based "reality" has to end.

We stand with ACP's statements of principles one of which is: No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept; not an objective biological one. No one is born with an awareness of themselves as male or female; this awareness develops over time and, like all developmental processes, may be derailed by a child’s subjective perceptions, relationships, and adverse experiences from infancy forward. People who identify as “feeling like the opposite sex” or “somewhere in between” do not comprise a third sex. They remain biological men or biological women.

Sex is biological and science is factual. Every American should be able to do whatever he or she wants whenever he or she wants as long as it doesn't negatively effect other Americans.

Enough pseudoscience and political posturing. It doesn't make us smarter, it makes us wilfully ignorant

We need to continue with reality based definition in law and policy and not bow to a cult promoted by the pharmaceutical industry.

Far too many other people get hurt in order to try to make some .001% of the population fell a little bit better about themselves. That's cruel.
