With such a high adoption rate, there no reason to kill these dogs!

This is so important! The shelter is below half capacity and these numbers are staggering.

It's time for FCDS to stop killing healthy, adoptable dogs! They need to screen their adopters, to provide more exercise and enrichment for all dogs in their care, quit charging large redemption fees, provide intervention & training for dogs at risk, and embrace & appreciate their volunteers!

With a little time these furkids could get homes. Why as a society should every dog or cat be murdered because they look different or they are of a certain breed? Shame on you.

Please stop these unfair practices. Healthy, adoptable dogs are dying everyday due to their ignorance.

Franklin County needs to step into the 21st century and be compassionate advocates for our homeless dogs in need.

I am signing this petition because I am absolutely sick of seeing young, healthy dogs being killed at FCDS daily. The assessments are too stringent and outdated and do not show the dogs true behavior. This can easily be backed up by the fosters who save the lucky ones. Many great and near perfect dogs are flipped to rescue therefore losing their lives every day. The reasons are ludicrous ranging from too fearful, too much energy and dogs who do not like to have their feet touched. The lame excuses go on and on. They have no compassion and do not do anything to work with the dogs and help them get out alive. It is just easier for them to kill them. These dogs mean nothing to them and their actions show it. There are other no kill, open intake shelters in the country that take in just as many dogs as FCDS, like in Houston for example. They only kill for extreme sickness and terminal illness. If they can do it, why can’t we. These lives matter to us and mean something. We have a nice shelter. We need a strong and caring director and staff in place to make this shelter fair and decent and give these poor souls a chance.
