I live in Brooks and will not be staying the summer. This is a current issue for a lot of people that are staying in the brooks, and is a major problem that I have learned now that people have expressed difficulties with in the past. Its an awful position to be put in, and a lot of students are loosing a lot of money trying to sublet for the bare minimum just to not have to pay the full summer fee.

Brooks wasn't even one of the residences that I applied for. I was told that if I didn't accept this offer, I might not have a place to live for school. It's hard to find a cheap local place to stay when you live 400+ km away.

It should be optional if we want to pay for the summer or not. I was very pleased with my experience in Brooks residence but it wasn't my first choice simply because of this ridiculous and super unnecessary fee.

I don't believe that it's fair that we have to pay during the summer. Accepting my offer late shouldn't give me the best residence I agree with that, however paying an extra $3000 to do so is simply injust. I have come from across the country to come to school here and the cost has been overwhelming. Having to beg people to sublet my room has been a nightmare. It is unnecessary stress, and unecesssry costs. People in Brooks should have the guaranteed option of staying the summer. For those who wish to go back home should not be penilazed.

These 12 month leases should be optional. It's not fair to students who were placed in Hyman Soloway or Brooks to have to pay the additional 3,000$ for a 12 month lease. Especially if they were not given a choice regarding their residence placement.

Definately not fair for students that got a 12 month lease because there wasn't room in 8 month rez's!

It is very unfortunate for those students. The university should try and find a different solution for those who can't find someone to sublet with.

I'm a first year student who lives around 600kms away, can't stay for the summer and got stuck with Brooks as my only residence option. This needs to change.
This is why i didn't live on campus
