Because the Coronavirus has forced our classes to be online, we would like to request the university of Sharjah to take an appropriate action and allow students to have a choice if their classes will be graded on a pass/fail scale or on the regular grading scale for this 2020 winter semester. Many universities abroad are also switching to alternative grading systems to make the grading system more fair and we would also like to have this as an option. Because of this pandemic, many of us are under great stress, anxiety and most students don't have the right study environments in their homes, which really affects their studies and performance, that's why a lot of students prefer to study in the library and they dont have access to these facilities due to the current situation. We believe that changing the grading system will make it more fair for all students since many students have the option of cheating and it wouldn't be fair if they get higher grades than the other students who were more honest. Furthermore, because this was our first time being exposed to elearning not all of us were able to properly adjust to it and found it difficult to process all the material being given and this could end up truly affecting our grades this semester. As well as many of the international students who had to fly back home who were not able to properly adjust to the elearning because of the time zone difference.

Therefore, It is more fair to us students that graduate universities and employers see "Pass" on our transcripts rather than risking the chances of us getting grades that are below our usual GPA range which may ruin all the hard work we have done.

We hope that the University accepts the request to this change to help benefit our entire student community.
