Support the University of Regina's involvement in Project Hero
Recently, sixteen University of Regina Professors sent an open letter to Vianne Timmons, President of the University of Regina, protesting Project Hero, a program that waives tuition fees and provides one thousand dollars per year to "“dependents of Canadian Forces personnel deceased while serving with an active mission”.
The
letter goes on to accuse Project Hero of glorifying Canadian imperialism in
Afghanistan, and demands that this vital program be cancelled. These professors believe that Project Hero is
a tool to stifle debate on military issues in Canada.
Please
tell the University of Regina that this financial assistance program is not to
stifle debate, but to provide education to those that might not otherwise be
able to access it.
By signing this petition you are showing your support for Project Hero and believe that is has just as much of a right to assist students in financial need as any other scholarship or award provided by the University of Regina.
