Petition requesting school transportation accommodations. Southwind parents are concerned about the unsafe passage of our children. Shelby County School District(SCS) has implemented a new student transportation policy that places many children at risk by eliminating their bus service. Sign the petition to let SCS know that you, too, are concerned about the elimination of bus service for some SCS students. The parents of Southwind are requesting SCS place an immediate moratorium on the implementation of the SCS new student transportation plan; and a reinstatement of prior transportation plan. SCS just notified parents of plans via mail to arbitrarily enforce a one-mile walk zone rule for elementary schools and one and one half mile walk zone for middle and high school students. SCS has eliminated service for most of those children unambiguously.
