Unmask our children in the Alexander School District

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control both say masks should be worn by all students when indoors. This is clear, simple, evidence based guidance that is meant to keep all our kids and teachers safe. Masks will help us return to the “normal” that we all want, and avoid the inevitable quarantines and potentially lifelong or even deadly consequences of Covid-19. Given Athens County’s vaccination rate of less than 50%, we should be seeing at least that percentage of people wearing masks, yet nearly everywhere I go, nearly every single person is not wearing a mask. This shows that when given a choice, at least 50% of the residents in our county don’t follow simple guidelines to protect those around them. That does not bode well for the coming school year, unless masking rules are put in place for everyone.

This should be a family/individual preference. We are America and it is time we STOP these communistic tendencies. Masking is a personal choice, PERIOD! Lets get back to normal!

My son is autistic and can’t have a mask, stop punishing our children over a virus with over a 99% survival rate, these are children not science experiments.

I agree it should be family choice for their kids and what’s works best for each family.

There is plenty of science stating masks are NOT needed and that children should NOT get the COVID vaccine. The proper research should be done by the school board about COVID 19 and not just the research done by government and government organizations.

It is time for everyone to move forward. Let's keep 'masks' as a personal choice option, and not a mandate.

Governor DeWine has lifted the mask mandate as of June 2nd, almost half of the nation is completely vaccinated and people agree that we should still wash our hands and keep good hygiene like we were taught in grade school. If you remember we were told if we would just wait til there is a vaccine and it gets distributed we can then remove the masks. It should be up to the individual and their family to what they feel is best for the student. Keep pushing the issue and you may find yourself losing lots of students to other districts that have confidence that the janitorial staff and others can handle taking extra precautions when necessary. No students, No staff, No money. Let's be adults and live normal lives, and quit living in fear. Let us have our country and freedoms back.

Time for kids to live life without restrictions.
