The mandate finally changed and our children are free to show their faces again. Seeing the masks come off is a huge relief for my own kids after so many months of fighting this battle. Thank you for walking this road with me until we reached the end.

Sign this petition IF.... you believe that eagle county's should adopt the COLORADO state mask requirements that EXCLUDES children 10 and under from wearing masks! If you want more details and data and studies please read below:

Did you know that the Colorado State Mask Mandate states that children ages 10 and under are not required to wear masks? However, the state also says that we must default to the mandates imposed by our county. Which means that there are counties all over Colorado where kids aren't required to wear masks, so why are we?

The time has come for our children to no longer be required to wear masks. For the past 13 months, Eagle County's youth have stepped up to protect our elderly and at-risk population and help to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19. The more time goes on the more research we have that tells us these masks are more harmful than helpful to our kids and it's about time we start protecting them.

More research shows that face masks become non-consequential and do not function after 20 minutes of use due to saturation. "Those masks are only effective so long as they are dry," says Professor Yvonne Cossart of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University of Sydney. "As soon as they become saturated with moisture from your breath, they stop doing their job and pass on the droplets."

  • There are indications that wearing a mask that has already been used, which is very common particularly with children, is riskier that if one wore no mask at all.
  • During April to October 2020, in the US, emergency room visits linked to mental health problems (e.g. anxiety) for children ages 5-11 increased by nearly 25% and increased by 31% for those aged 12-17 years old, as compared to the same time period in 2019. While some of this may be related to the pandemic, it is suspected to be largely a function of our response to the pandemic.
  • A robust immune system shortens an illness as a consequence of the presence of preprogrammed anamnestic immunity. Preventing children from such interactions with nature and germs can, and does, lead to overwhelming infections and serious consequences to the health and life of our children. While the intentions of mask mandates may be good, we may be setting up our children for future disaster, when they fully emerge from societal restrictions with no masks, to then be at the mercy of normally benign opportunistic infections with a now weakened immune system.
  • The accumulating evidence also suggests that prolonged masks use for children or adults can cause harm, so much so that Dr. Blaylock states, "the bottom line is that (if) you are not sick, you should not wear a mask." Furthermore, Dr. Blaylock writes, "By wearing a mask, the exhaled viruses will not be able to escape and will concentrate in the nasal passages, enter the olfactory nerves and travel into the brain."

As a community, Eagle County prides itself on being progressive and following the science. But the science changes and evolves daily, and it is our duty as a community to be responsive and adaptive as new information emerges. We have to stop running scared and start looking toward the future and aiming to not cause more harm than we already have with the masking of our children.

We are asking you to please sign this petition so that Eagle County Public Health and all schools within Eagle County (both public and private) can remove the mask mandate effective June 1, 2021, and allow families to make their own decisions regarding the masking of their children. We have to unite as a community to protect the social, emotional, physical, and mental wellness of our kids.

Let's allow our youth to start the summer of 2021, without masks.

We hit one hundred signatures today and it shows how many of us are tired of watching our kids struggle with these policies. I am so grateful to everyone who stepped up to show that we want better for our children.

Watching the count climb reminds me daily of the struggles my own children face in these classrooms. Please send this link to your neighbors so we can hit our goal and show the county that our kids deserve to breathe freely.

If we truly follow science then it can take us places our political agendas may not like. Science says that now that older and at-risk populations are vaccinated there is greater risk to Eagle County from mental health issues than from COVID. It is time to put the fear behind us and let our children smile, laugh, and learn again how to socialize like humans should.

Eagle County does not need to add additional requirements to the state mandate. Thanks for passing along this petition, I hope we can gather enough support.

Children do not spread covid. Masks are causing phycological damage to children. Shame on adults for mandating such nonsense.

Masks are NOT healthy. Some of our kids are wearing masks 7+ hours a day. They’re wearing them during physical activity where OXYGEN is vital. This mask mandate is sick and wrong and shame on the district for forcing this on our children! Your job is to be an advocate for our children. DO YOUR JOB!

The long term negative consequences of mask wearing - especially on our kids as young as 3 as mandated by the county far outweighs the risk of covid in this population.

Masks don’t help. My daughter contracted Covid in Eagle County while wearing a mask, and spread it to our family. Our children need fresh oxygen, healthy immune systems, and to see each other smile.

The kids should be exempt.
