To the Dubuque County School District:
We, the undersigned duly registered voters/tax payers within the Dubuque County School District, in the town of Dubuque Iowa, hereby make application to our School Board to warn a Special Meeting to act upon the following question:
"To see if the voters/tax payers of the Dubuque County School District will vote to adopt the following provisions pertaining to requirements to wear face coverings within the Dubuque County School District; (a) The use of face coverings shall be optional for all students at the sole discretion of their parent or guardian, (b) the use of face coverings shall be optional for any employees and visitors on school district facilities and attending school sanctioned events."

Being deaf and reading lips, mask don't help. It's frustrating when you can't make out what people are saying, and lots of people gets frustrated if u keep asking them to repeat what they are saying. Noone think of the deaf when they what people to wear mask.
My child is 3 years old and autistic and has sensory issues. He screams if I even come near him with a mask. If you want to talk about discrimination, requiring him to mask up is clearly discriminatory and could keep him from being able to attend preschool.
Please allow parents to make medical decisions for their children. This is not the responsibility of our schools. Masks cause more harm to our children than they can even begin to PREVENT what they are being worn to do.
The masks and lock downs have caused my children harm. Having adopted kids with mental and emotional issues you can not look at this situation with tunnel vision!! There are SO many other ways that kids are affected by this that far our weigh the very low number of kids who get C***d or are seriously sick with it.
If you want your kid to wear a mask. Feel free too. Nobody is saying you can't. But I have the same freedom to send my kid to school without a mask. I know what is best for my kid.
Only parents should decide what is best for their children’s health.
Masks are pointless, socially awkward for kids and also unhealthy for kids to wear for long term.

My daughter attends Carver Elementary and absolutely loves the school; but she dreaded going to school when there was a mask mandate. If this is implemented again, we will pull her out of school and send her to a private institution.
