Texas House bill 705 is taking away the rights of individuals who have been convicted of a crime to hold a job for up to 20 years. If a person is conviced of a crime and serves there time and upon release everywhere they go for a job turns them down, how then are they to become responsible citizens. We are now a service oriented country if you can not find a service job what are you to do. Many people make stupid mistakes especially in there youth and now according to the Texas law for 20 years after they are released they will be unable to find a job in any service industry.

I am not a convicted felon. I read this law and was horrified to think that we Texans are in favor of a law that will effectively bar the hiring of convicted persons. Maybe that was not the intent of the law, but that is the outcome. People who have been effectively doing a job for years are now being fired. Please take the time to read the legislation. The link is below. You have to wonder what law is going to be put into effect next.
